On 30 november 2014 go legend Go Seigen passed away at the respectable age of 100. He is widely considered as one of the greatest and most influential go players of all times. Not only because of his long carreer at the top of the go world, but also because of his inimitable playing style.
Go played many of his games with white. Without receiving komi. Because of that his playing style tends to linger on boundaries of good moves, and sometimes goes beyond that, into slight 'overplays'. He also continuously tried new moves and new ideas. Many sequences that later became known as joseki, were invented by Go Seigen.

This game, commented by Merlijn Kuin 6d, is special because Go Seigen received a komi of 4,5 points as white. Both players were looking for the best way to encorporate this komi into their playing styles; how to deal with komi was a relatively new concept.
It is clear that because of the komi, white could play slightly more easy-going than usual.

White is Go Seigen.
Black is Takagawa Kaku, who was known for his quiet, solid style.

This game was played the 5th of july, 1955.

Deze nog weinig besproken partij is bijzonder omdat er een komi gold van 4,5 punt. De spelers waren op zoek naar de beste manier om daarmee om te gaan. Het is duidelijk dat wit het wat rustiger aan zou kunnen doen, maar ook weer niet helemaal op zijn lauweren kan rusten.

Wit is Go Seigen, zwart is Takagawa Kaku, die bekend stond om zijn rustige, degelijke stijl.
