PW[Artem Kachanovskyj 7d (Ukraine)]PB[Mateusz Surma 6d (Poland)]C[Hello pro subscribers! Today Kim Sung-rae has prepared a game review for us.
The game was played at the 7th Korea Prime Minister Cup which took place only a few weeks ago.
The KPMC is a yearly event where some of the strongest amateur go players from all over the world come to battle against eachother. Qualification tournaments are held in the different countries to decide who will be the representatives for their countries. ]
(;B[pd]C[The game we will show you is from the 6th round, the last round. Played on 2012.10.28.
Black is Mateusz Surma, the up and coming 6dan from Poland. White is Artem Kachanovskyj, a 7dan from Ukraine. Both players are in their teens. Artem is 19 years old and Mateusz is a bit younger.
Both players won 4 games and lost 1.
The winner of this game will be the top european player at the KPMC.]

This might be surprising to you. But let's see a similar situation.

(later) Black plays this pincer only because he has room to extend and make a base at A. ]

;B[cn]LB[nc:A][qf:B][mp:C]C[

The left side has been more or less devided, so what would be the important side now? There are three choices.]
(;W[nc]C[This was played and is correct.

It is logical to approach from the wider side. There is more space at the top than at the right side, on top of that white already has stones in the upper left which help making a framework at the top. White has no friendly stones on the right side.]
;B[pf]
;W[kd]LB[di:A]SQ[cf]C[White makes a nice extension at the top. In combination with his stone at A he can aim to make a framework at the upper left. The black marked stone is still weak.]
