;W[mj]C[We ended episode 7 in this position.
Today we will continue the game between between Frank and me, Peter.
Frank is a strong and famous Dutch go player. He worked at the European Go Centre for many years. He has won the Dutch championships four times. But he is being cut here now, so let's see whats going on.]
;B[oj]
;W[pk]
;B[pj]LB[rk:A]C[Kim: Hey, shouldn't black be concerned about his 4 weak stones in the center?

Peter: Yes, but first black needs to save his cutting stones. This keeps the pressure on the white centre group as well. Now both players have a weak group. As a bonus, black has a nice followup at A. This would make the black territory on the right side very big.]
(;W[mm]C[Kim: What makes you decide to cut and not attack the whole group at once?

Peter: I would like to attack the whole group, but unfortunately I have some weaknesses in my own shape.]
;B[lm]
;W[mn]
;B[ln]
;W[mo]
(;B[jm]C[Kim: Black creates some eye shape. Would you play the same way if you were black?
Peter: I'm not sure. I would like to play something else first..

]
;W[kk]C[Kim: This is a move to spoil Frank's shape.]
;B[kl]
;W[lj]
;B[ll]
(;W[jo]C[Kim: This looks nice, it strengthens white and takes away some of the eyeshape of black.]
;B[jj]C[Peter: This is another point where both players would like to play.]
;W[ki]
;B[hj]
;W[il]C[Peter: I played this peep to take away Frank's eyeshape. But Frank had a nice counter attack up his sleeve.]
;B[hl]C[Kim: Nice timing!]
;W[im]
;B[jl]
;W[gi]C[Kim: Wow, you are surrounding black, can he still escape?
Peter: He will try !]
;B[ih]C[The next couple of moves are forced.]
;W[ii]
;B[hi]
;W[hh]C[Peter: A good lesson for kyu players: almost never atari a cutting stone!]
(;B[ig]LB[gh:A]C[Peter: The proper move. Now Frank leaves a lot of cutting aji behind. White needs to come back and fix the cut at A. ]
;W[gh]
;B[if]
;W[hk]LB[gj:B][ij:A]C[Kim: This looks like a vital point in blacks shape!
Peter: Yes. Black is cut, A and B are miai.]
;B[gk]
;W[ik]
;B[ij]
;W[gj]C[Kim: Are you winning now?

Peter: I thought i had good chances of capturing the whole black group. But there is another proverb that says: Big groups never die easily!]
;B[in]
;W[hm]
;B[jn]
(;W[lf]C[Kim: Huh? Why this move?
Peter: I was afraid.]
;B[ip]C[Peter: This move might look strange, because (see variation)..]
(;W[iq]
;B[hq]
;W[gq]LB[hp:A][hr:B]C[Peter: This technique makes miai of A and B.]
;B[jp]C[Peter: White needs to prevent black from getting two eyes.]

;W[hr]
;B[hp]
;W[kp]
;B[gr]C[Peter: Frank sets up a very nice squeeze which will give him two eyes.]

;B[go]C[Kim: That's an impressive save!]
;W[me]C[Peter: It was. After this move I am safe in the center too.]
;B[fk]
;W[fl]LB[di:B][gm:A]C[Kim: Why does Frank extend his dead stone here?

Peter: I think this is a probe. After this move black gains some clear sente moves. A is sente. And all moves around B are sente too.]
;B[nc]C[Peter: Black aims at seperating the upper white stones from the center stones. ]
(;W[ie]C[Peter: I realised I could not afford to answer and follow Franks plan, so I helped my centre group. By helping my own group I also attack blacks stones at the top.]
;B[je]
;W[ke]C[Peter: This captures the black stone. ]
;B[he]LB[nb:B][nc:A][rk:C]C[Kim: Ah, because blacks group is still weak, he has to come back and defend here. Now you defended your own group in sente! So do you think Frank's attack at A was a mistake?

Peter: Yes, I think it was a mistake. It seems too small at this point in the game. Of course white can return to the top now and block at B, but there are bigger moves, such as C. So I will tenuki!]
;W[ph]LB[le:A]C[Peter: Because my centre formation is strong now - after I captured the marked stone at A - I can use this strength to attack!]
(;B[oh]C[Kim: We will show the following moves quickly. Another big fight emerges, with lots of unaesthetic moves. Sometimes the ugly moves work best.]

;B[ng]C[Peter: The right side is damaged: White has a living group inside blacks territory. On top of that I got the chance to return to the top. ]
;W[nb]C[Peter: A very big point, and it is sente now: Blacks corner group is not yet alive. Always do as many things as possible with 1 move: About 20 moves earlier this white block was onesided, but now it not only makes territory, it also attacks black: The timing of moves is of crucial importance in go. ]
;B[ra]
(;W[sc]LB[sb:A]C[Peter: I left a ko here at A. If I try to kill the black group (see variation)..

]
;B[ne]
;W[nd]
;B[mf]
;W[nf]C[Kim: As if the game wasn't exciting enough already, Frank and Peter started an explosive ko fight.
They are still playing this game on the dragongoserver and the outcome is yet unclear.

We hope you enjoyed this game commentary and that you learned something from Peters thinking process during the game. Thanks for watching and see you next time, where we will discuss the aftermath of a popular joseki. ])
(;W[sb]
;B[se]
;W[sc]
;B[qf]C[My own group is also dead. The outcome of the semeai is unclear, but it looks promising for black.])
(;W[nd]C[The proper move instead. I have enough points if i simply fix my own weaknesses. White is safe and leads the game.]
;B[sb]C[Black needs to live and white gets sente to start the endgame. ]))
(;B[ld]C[Peter: If black tries to escape, I will be flexible and capture two other stones ;)]
;W[kd]
;B[md]C[This doesn't do him much good. ]
;W[id]C[Kim: Ouch! Now the whole black position on the top left is suddenly weak again. Make one mistake and the game turns around completely!]))

(;B[hg]C[Peter: A common mistake. ]
;W[gh]C[Black forces white to fix his cutting point, and needs to fix his own in gote. Please appreciate the important difference between sente in the correct variation and gote here.]))
(;B[jo]C[Kim: When black would play here himself he gets great eye shape and threatens to invade the lower side. So remember the proverb: The enemy's key point is yours. (http://senseis.xmp.net/?path=GoProverbs&page=TheEnemysKeyPointIsYours)]))
